The Atlanta Women’s 5K is a 3.1-mile
run and walk for women and girls of all ages and abilities, taking place
on a scenic course in and around historic Candler Park. With this event,
the ATC honors Laura Murphy, pioneer and founding member of the Atlanta
Track Club Women’s Team as well as one of the first women to serve on
the ATC’s Board of Directors. It features many special feminine
touches, including festive springtime decorations and classical music
played at the start and finish
and hand painted ceramic awards provided by
a woman owned business,
SportsPottery.com. Entrants receive a specially designed
T-shirt on race day as well as a complimentary flower at the finish
line. This event also offers the option of running as part of a team
with your mother, daughter, sister, or friends.
Registration: The online entry
fee is $22. Online registration is available through midnight on Thursday,
March 19. The fee for mail-in entries is $25; entries must be postmarked
by Friday, March 13. Late registration is $27 and is available online
from midnight Friday March 13 through midnight Thursday March 19. There is no race day
registration.

Number
pickup is available on race day in Candler Park between 6:30-7:30
a.m.
Team Divisions: Teams of up to
five members can compete in one of four divisions: Open (under age 40),
Masters (age 40+), Mother/Daughter, and Sister/Sister. Winners of the
Mother/Daughter and Sister/Sister divisions will be determined by the
top two finishers on each team. The winning Mother/Daughter team will be
awarded the Laura Murphy trophy. Team names and members be declared on
race day by 7:30 a.m. Runners may enter only one team competition.
Awards: Gift
cards will be awarded to the overall individual Open and Masters
champions, the top three Open teams, the top two masters teams, and the
top Mother/Daughter and Sister/Sister team. Gift
cards will also be given to the top three finishers in the
following age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29,3 0-34, 35-39,
40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, and 75+.
SportsPottery.com,
will also provide hand painted ceramic awards to the overall and masters
winners, Sister/Sister and Mother/Daughter Teams.
FOR THE SAFETY AND ENJOYMENT OF EVERYONE, NO PETS,
HEADPHONES, OR WHEELED CONVEYANCES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING BABY
JOGGERS/STROLLERS, BICYCLES, AND ROLLER OR INLINE SKATES ARE PERMITTED
ON THE COURSE.
To get there, take I-85 to Exit #249-D (North
Ave.) If heading south on I-85, turn left onto North Avenue and proceed
approximately 3.3 miles to the park. If heading north, turn left at the
top of the exit ramp onto West Peachtree. Change lanes to the right hand
lane, turn right onto North Avenue and proceed to the park.
